How do you prioritize features when designing a product, especially under tight deadlines?

During my final year project, my team and I were tasked with developing a mobile app to help students manage their study schedules. With a tight deadline of just three months, we needed to prioritize features effectively. We conducted a brainstorming session and then used a simple matrix to categorize features based on user value and implementation complexity. For instance, we decided to prioritize a calendar integration feature because it was crucial for user engagement and relatively easy for us to implement. By focusing on high-impact, low-effort features first, we managed to launch a functional prototype on time, which received positive feedback from our peers and professors. This experience taught me the importance of clear communication and teamwork in prioritizing features effectively.
