How do you approach a complex problem when you don’t have all the necessary data?

During my final year in college, I worked on a group project where we had to analyze a local business's market strategy. We quickly realized that we lacked access to comprehensive market data. To tackle this, we divided our tasks: I focused on conducting surveys with potential customers to gather primary data, while my teammates researched online resources and academic articles for secondary data. We collaborated regularly to piece together our findings and used qualitative insights to support our conclusions. This experience taught me the importance of teamwork, creativity in data collection, and how to make informed decisions even when information is limited.

I volunteered at a local non-profit organization that was planning a fundraising event. A week before the event, we discovered that we didn't have enough confirmed attendees for our budget. To address this, I suggested we leverage social media to promote the event and reach a wider audience. I created engaging posts and reached out to local influencers to help spread the word. Additionally, I coordinated with team members to brainstorm alternative fundraising ideas, like a silent auction, which didn’t rely on attendee numbers. By adapting quickly and using available resources, we managed to increase attendance and exceed our fundraising goals.

In my first job as a junior analyst, I was tasked with preparing a report on a product that was underperforming. However, there was a lack of historical sales data due to a recent system change. I approached this by gathering insights from customer feedback and sales teams. I organized a few quick interviews with sales reps to understand their experiences and the customers’ concerns.
