What do you understand by the term 'scope creep', and how can it impact a project?

During my final year at college, I worked on a group research project where we were tasked with analyzing the impact of social media on youth engagement in community services. Initially, we planned to focus on a specific demographic, but as we progressed, some team members suggested expanding our research to include various age groups. I recognized this as potential scope creep and addressed it by facilitating a team discussion. We decided to stick to our original plan for the sake of time and depth. Ultimately, we delivered a comprehensive report on our initial focus, which earned us high marks. This experience taught me the importance of sticking to defined scopes to ensure project success.

Last summer, I volunteered to help organize a charity event for a local non-profit. Initially, our goal was to raise funds through a simple bake sale.
