For instance, when students wanted to view their grades, our application made a GET request to the API, retrieving data in JSON format. This approach made our application intuitive and user-friendly, as it allowed for quick updates and reduced the amount of code we had to write compared to using SOAP. The project was a success, and it taught me the importance of choosing the right architecture for efficient data handling.

During my time volunteering at a local non-profit organization, I helped develop a system for managing community events. We implemented a RESTful API to streamline communication between our event management system and an external website. This allowed users to register for events seamlessly. The API enabled us to handle requests efficiently; for example, when users submitted their registration, the API processed the data and sent back a confirmation. By using REST, we could easily make changes to the system without disrupting the user experience, which was crucial for our operations. This experience solidified my understanding of how APIs function in real-world applications and the benefits of using REST over other protocols.

In my first job as a junior developer, I was tasked with integrating a new feature into an existing application that used RESTful APIs. I learned how to make requests to retrieve data and how to send updates back to the server. For instance, I worked on a feature where users could update their profiles. The RESTful API allowed us to send a PUT request with the updated information, which the server processed efficiently.
